Mission Statement

Bee Academy works to make academic success more attainable through the distribution of relevant resources, opportunities, and tips intended for students.

Bee Academy is run by a student. Each method that has helped me grow and reach my goals will be shared on this platform. If a single student has benefited from this platform, or if another student was pushed to unlocking their potential, then Bee Academy has served its purpose. Education is becoming more accessible, but academic success seems to fall into the hands of a select few. Bee Academy works to ensure otherwise.

Birth of a Bee

One late afternoon on July 14, 2020, I was sitting alone in my living room near a small window and a panel of plants. As I sipped my slightly bitter coffee, basking in the luxury of being home alone, I realized that my need for productivity, my love for presentations and projects, and my experience with educational resources, can all be put together to create something. That something turned out to be an Instagram Account, and a Website under the name, Bee Academy.

Bee Academy seemed beneficial to me in many ways. It was the summer of 2020, we were quarantined within our homes with Covid-19 looming over our heads. I wouldn't be going outside so, I had to drop my previous plans of going to the gym and finding community jobs and volunteering positions. In other words, I had absolutely nothing to do over the summer other than my remote job. Usually, I would feed this feeling but stalking potential universities, or looking through apartment options in Montreal, a city I desperately wanted to live within. However, those two tasks could only keep me busy for so long. I still had a year to go before university applications and two years before I could even think of living in another city. Of course, doing nothing was not an option. In my years of living, I had realized that my mental health plummets when my mind isn't busy. In other words, a new project like Bee Academy was the only thing that could keep me sane. I also really enjoyed the idea of finally having a platform that I can share my academic experiences and resources. I have always enjoyed stepping up to help my peers with school in any way I can, which is where I got the "From A Student to A Student" bit of my concept. I think that other students can benefit from what I find, which means that I, a single student can help another student get closer to academic success. Now, that is an accomplishment I can be proud of!

With all that being said, I hope that you, whoever you may be, can benefit from my little blog. Please, always feel free to contact me with suggestions, requests, questions, or just a little chat!

Sincerely,

Rona

Bee Academy FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is Bee Academy?

A platform of posts containing advice, resources, and opportunities that will make academic success more attainable for students.

How do it work?

Bee Academy contains multiple posts addressing all kinds of things students of all ages may face. The posts will be gradually made as I go through my education and come across resources, opportunities, and tips that are helpful. Bee Academy is also open to requests on specific inquiries.

Why is it called Bee Academy?

The name jumped to my head in the first moments of development. Part of this is admittedly because of the rumoured murder hornets of 2020. Also, bees remind me of students, so it all kind of just fell into place.

Who is behind Bee Academy?

Hi! My name is Rona, and I am a high school student in Toronto, Canada. I get anxious when I'm unproductive, so I tend to do a lot of panic researching. This strange habit has lead me to many useful resources and opportunities that have helped me reach multiple levels of academic success. I would love to see more diversity in the world of youth leaders, and I love to help my peers, so Bee Academy is the platform in which I share these resources and opportunities.

I also love to learn and grow; if you have some constructive criticism for me and my platform reach out to me, and I will look into it!

What makes Bee Academy different?

Many organizations looking to help youth are run by adults, which can make them more intimidating and less relatable. Bee Academy is completely run by a student which ensures that each post is relevant and proven useful. Students can also feel more comfortable approaching the platform, knowing that its run by a peer close to their age.

What stands in the future?

I'm not a fortune teller, but I know that Bee Academy will last for a long while. I have many years of school waiting for me, and I plan to take Bee Academy along. Once I've ultimately graduated from institutional learning, I will look for a successor that can maintain the platform's relevancy and approachable vibe.

Final words of Introduction

I am a student, possibly, just like you. I have a lot of homework and tests lined up, but I still wish to take the time to update this platform with posts that can help my peers. My grammar and spelling aren't amazing and I can't always take extra care when proofreading. I will, however, always ensure that my work makes enough sense so that visitors can benefit from my posts. I welcome constructive criticism but I also ask for your understanding.

I will also dedicate a section of this website to personal updates from my life so that you can walk the journey of education along with me!
